What is a typical hypnotherapy session like?

The first session is 75 minutes. Other sessions are an hour–or longer if the client desires this extra time at extra cost.

The first session includes an intake time of 20 minutes, an introduction explaining what hypnosis is and isn’t, and creating positive goals so you the client, can begin to manifest what you do want! Then we do the hypnosis session with the biofeedback monitor as you are seated in a very comfortable reclining chair with your eyes closed, hearing relaxing music in the background as you follow the sound of my voice.
You have the easy job! The hypnosis lasts 20- 30 minutes. I make a CD of the session for you to listen to at home.  You’ll be amazed at how wonderful you feel.

We take a few minutes to wrap up the session and talk about the experience, including viewing the biofeedback graph to show the body relaxation response and see which hypnosis level was achieved. Subsequent sessions would include discussing your progress and issue(s), sharing a mind-body technique to help facilitate the change, learning self-hypnosis, and experiencing a hypnosis style to deal with the specifics and wrapping up the session.

How many sessions do I need?

Changing habits and issues is a process. I don’t have a crystal ball to know how many sessions any person needs. But I do ask for a three session minimum.  Most clients feel a positive change by that time.  We then evaluate if more sessions are needed. Some clients see me just for the three sessions.  Others continue because they are so impressed with how they feel and continue seeing me to work on deeper levels of their issue and for other desired changes in their life.

How often are the sessions?

I usually see clients every two weeks, since you will have the self-hypnosis CD and the EFT technique to work with at home.

Where are hypnotherapy sessions held?

Gina works mostly by Zoom but in-person sessions are available in the Oak Park area. She does groups online and for companies, hospitals, libraries and organizations.

How should someone prepare for a session?

Be open, relaxed and arrive on time with your intake form completed and Client Bill of Rights signed. ( send these out to the client in advance. Avoid caffeine for at least three hours before our session.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE refrain from wearing perfumes/fragrances of any kind [scented hand lotions, hair spray/gel, after shave, colognes] because Gina has a serious intolerance to these petroleum-based chemicals.  Failure to observe this request may result in having to reschedule the appointment. Thanks.

What are your office hours?

My usual hours are Mondays – Fridays, from 10 am through 9 pm in the evening.  My usual evening appointments for hypnotherapy are 6:30 and 7:45 pm.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice of cancellation.  If a client cancels within 24 hours, they can reschedule within a week and not get charged.  I do charge for missed appointments, as standard professional practice. This is my livelihood.  Thank you.

Why do you do what you do?

I was led to the healing arts several decades ago as a call to something deep within. I decided on hypnotherapy as a specialty since I made such breakthroughs in my own issues by seeing a hypnotherapist during a particularly dark time of my life, including a difficult health issue.

Healthy wishes,
